A dozen teams participated in the Macomb County Bar Foundation’s Regional High School Mock Trial Tournament held recently at the county courthouse in Mt. Clemens. Three teams advanced to the state finals in Lansing — Cardinal Mooney High School, Anchor Bay High School and St. Mary Catholic Center High School. The finals were held in Lansing late last month and Kalamazoo Center High School was the winner of that competition. That school will now take part in the National High School Mock Trial Championship in Hartford, Conn. from May 11-14. Members of the Cardinal Mooney High School team are pictured

Nine Macomb County judges and 41 attorneys volunteered for the event, organized and conducted by the Michigan Center for Civic Education and designed to reenact much of what might take place in trial courts. High school student teams take on the roles of attorneys and witnesses and compete against other schools.
