The State Bar of Michigan Young Lawyer Section hosted its “So You Have Your P Number, Now What?: Practice Essentials for New Lawyers” program on Aug. 11 at the Baronette Renaissance Detroit-Novi Hotel in Novi. Among those on hand for the seminar were (left to right) Rebeka Page-Gourley of ICLE, Shenique Moss of the Wayne County Commission, Laura Kubit of Lakeshore Legal Aid, Kristina Bilowus of Findling Law PLC, Western?Michigan University Cooley Law School Professor and Auxiliary Dean Martha Moore, Choi Portis of Detroit Water and Sewerage Dept., and Colemon Potts of Detroit Legal Group PLLC. The half-day training seminar was designed especially for new lawyers and covered such topics as “Judicial Perspectives on Motion Practice and “Courtroom Etiquette,” “Strategies and Insights for Balanced Living,” “Civility and Professionalism 101,” “Tips on Avoiding Grievances, Ethical Pitfalls, and Malpractice,” and more.
