Free Speech, Free Press and Free Society was the topic of the Macomb County Bar Foundation’s annual Law Day observances this year. Students from across the county submited essays and posters on the topic and the winners were recognized at a ceremony at the Macomb County Administration Building. Various judges and other members of the legal community were on hand to congratulate the participants. Pictured with some of the winners of the 2019 contest are (starting third from left in back row) Macomb County Circuit Court Judges Joseph Toia and Kathryn Viviano, Circuit Court Chief Judge James Biernat Jr., 41B District Court Chief Judge Carrie Fuca, Circuit Court Judge Matthew Switalski and 41B District Court Judge Jacob Femminineo. Students from kindergarten through third grade submit posters while fourth-through eight grade students submit essays.
