Students from a dozen michigan high schools gathered at the Macomb County Courthouse on Saturday, March 4 to participate in a regional mock trial competition. The daylong event was presented by the Michigan Center for Civil Education and sponsored by the Macomb County Bar Foundation. The winning teams — Regina High School in Warren and the University of Detroit Jesuit High School — advanced to the state finals in Lansing this month. The competition is designed to reenact much of what might take place in trial courts with student teams taking on the roles of attorneys and witnesses and competing against other schools.
